Objectives
- Providing an informal learning environment for participants of a formal integration course
- Combining culture and language
- Providing an access to urban society via museums
- Integration
Preparation
A concept for the museum visit should be prepared.
Instructions
The museum visits are organized for participants of a formal integration course. A cooperation with local museums is an advantage. The participants gain access to local museums and are able to expand their previously learned language skills in a new environment. The participating museums have designed the visits specifically to meet the needs of the participants and aligned them with their exhibitions.
In addition, participants can be trained as museum guides themselves and plan their own tours.
Variant
This activity could be split up in two:
1. A partnership with the local museum as a joint learningspace or learninghub.
2.Museum guides: the outcome is that learners become guides, the process is a learning journey that can have different learning objectives (language, communication, expression, culture, organizing skills, etc.)
A first ‘try-out’ or variation could be to do virtual museum visits and let learners be a guide in this virtual museum. https://artsandculture.google.com/project/streetviews
Closing Up
Back in the classroom, experiences and impressions can be exchanged.
