Objectives

Becoming familiar with the city/region

Material

  • Cardboard or paper (e.g. the blank side of flipchart paper)
  • Black and coloured pens
  • Scissors and glue/tape
  • stickers
  • printed photos and illustrations

Instructions

The group creates a poster or a city map together. It is possible to expand existing maps (e.g. from the local tourist office) with pins, landmarks, post-its or flags The result can be hung up in the classroom.

Leading questions:

  • Where are good places to spend your free time?
  • Where are the authorities located?
  • What places of interest are there?
  • Where are the participants’ favourite places?

Variant

Each participant makes their own map, let them discuss the results and let them add spots from the others on their own map.

Participants can also research information about the places and exchange them in class.
